10 Things I've Been Loving Lately

Where has this year gone?! I feel like yesterday was March 2020. I blinked and now we’re in the fall season of 2021. WHAT?! Each season of life has brought us new growth and discovery. And I love discovering new things I LOVE. Who doesn’t? So, I wanted to share with you guys a few things (clothing, music, podcasts, books, etc) I’ve been loving lately.

10 things I’m loving lately

  1. Bombas No-Show Socks. You guys know I’m already a fan of Bombas socks. However, I’ve never met a “no-show” sock that didn’t slip off of your heel and end up squished at the toe of your shoe. I was very skeptical, but after a friend told me she SWORE by them … I took a chance. And she was right. Of course she was right - THEY’RE BOMBAS! The don’t slip AND they don’t leave those elastic lines on your feet from squeezing too hard.

  2. Amazon Hawthrone Leggings. I finally heard from enough bloggers raving about them on my stories that I took a chance and purchased a pair. “Lulu Align dupes!” *cue raised eyebrows* UNPOPULAR OPINION: I don’t actually like the Lulu Align leggings. They’re SUPER soft but unless you’re Heidi Klum …. they’re going to show what you’re insecure about. THESE leggings, however, are as soft as the aligns while being thick and compressive enough to hold ya in. I’m a fan. My wallet is not a fan of how many pairs I want to buy.

  3. Marc Broussard. We ask Alexa to play Marc Broussard radio when we’re cooking or hanging out on our back patio, and this station NEVER disappoints. We could listen for hours. He’s a soulful voice and the station plays classics like “Ain’t No Sunshine”.

  4. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. One of my besties recommended this book to me and said “you won’t be able to put it down.” Her hypothesis was accurate. The novel’s main character who makes a deal with the devil which backfires. You’ll fall in love with Addie as you follow along in her journey. Major main character energy.

  5. Our new living room design. George and I decided to partner with Havenly, an online interior design firm, to help us decorate our living room space. We’re almost finished with the space and I’m OBSESSED with how much of an impact it’s made. Our Marin Sofa is very comfy and lightened up the space (versus the black couch we had before) and the layered rugs make me feel like I’m an A-dult. 6. Healthy Granola Recipe. I’ve posted this recipe before to my Instagram feed, but it deserves another mention. I always thought granola was too hard to actually make myself, but BOY WAS I WRONG. Not only is this recipe easy, but baking it in your oven makes your house smell like you live in a bakery that specializes in fall-inspired confectionaries. The maple syrup is *chef’s kiss* I’ll never go back.

  7. Dare to Lead. Brene Brown does it again. Her leadership podcast has been out for a while, and she’s interviewed a number of noteworthy guests. I loved her episode with Patrice Gordon on reverse mentorship. If only we could all speak as eloquently as Patrice. Their discussion on D&I and reverse mentorship was very interesting. Brene also interviewed Michael Bungay Stainer on “staying curious” and he shares a list of questions that I’ve been trying to integrate into more of my crucial conversations. Good concrete takeaways. BONUS: I loved this HBR article on asking an expert on how to become a CEO. Always dream big!

  8. Fall weather and our back patio. George and I recently pulled the trigger on a conversation set for the patio we had been eyeing for a while. The patio is now a place to sit and lounge for a while (AKA: work outside for meeeee), watch fall sports, and grill out with a crew of friends. We’re also attempting to grow a wall’s worth of bougainvillea and mandevilla to add a pop of color to the back of our house. Here’s a tutorial on how to grow a vine wall (fingers crossed it actually works)!

  9. Bluebell’s new flavor: Coconut Cream Pie. I tend to stray away from ice-cream flavors that don’t involve some sort of chocolate. However, I do love coconut and pie crust mixed into vanilla ice-cream. This flavor is YUMMY! And, of course, I drizzle chocolate sauce on top.

  10. Join Jules’ TikTok account. A craft cocktailer, Jules is a genius. And her videos are aesthetically pleasing, I could watch them for hours.

I hope you enjoy these things as much as I do!
