The Ultimate Summer Bucket List

SUMMER. It might be the child nostalgia, but the summer months seem to carry a certain tangible JOY and HAPPINESS with them. An air of freedom and sunshine! I love making lists, and I really enjoy crafting a “bucket list” for each season. Recording a list of “FUN” activities seems to be the best way to kick off the summer months!

LIVING AND LOCAL’S SUMMER BUCKET LIST

  1. Plan a Staycation. Narrow down a list of your favorite local hotels and choose your “staycation” destination! For me, it was The Collegiate Hotel. There’s something enchanting about staying in your favorite hotel in your HOMETOWN! Wear that fluffy robe, enjoy the rooftop bar, and relax!

  2. Craft Your Own Summer Cocktail. I love a good summer cocktail! Some faves include this piece of pineapple perfection, this fruity marg, and this bourbon peach lemonade. Spend one afternoon trying to craft YOUR perfect summer cocktail, and then sit out on your porch and enjoy the evening! OPTION UP: Turn it into a cocktail party competition. Party goers vote on their favorite (anonymous) cocktail!

  3. Chill on a Body of Water. Beach. Lake. River. There’s no wrong answer! There’s nothing more refreshing than jumping into the water after sitting in the summer heat. Pass me a lemonade, and I’m a happy camper!

  4. Host a BBQ. Burgers, hot dogs, and watermelon please! Add apple pie and you have a patriotic trifecta.

  5. Hone Your Yard Game Skills. Badminton. Croquet. Corn Hole. Challenge a friend (or group of friend) to a backyard game night! WARNING: Badminton can get dangerously competitive.

  6. Read a New Book. I’m recently obsessed with this book. Oh, and this book. Both would make great summer reads.

  7. Explore Nature. Find a new nature reserve or local park you have yet to try! Auburn is about an hour drive away from Providence Canyon. Looks like a mini Grand Canyon. IN MY OWN BACKYARD.

  8. Quiet Time (RELAX. And REALLY relax). Mark a day on your calendar specifically for this. Unplug / veg out. Let yourself truly relax!

  9. Stargaze. One of my favorite Texas pastimes. We used to drag sleeping bags out onto our cement driveway (still toasty from the summer sun) and watch the meteor showers pass. These are some of my favorite childhood memories!

  10. Picnic. Load up on charcuterie and wine, add a picnic blanket, a shady tree and TA DA! You’ve got yourself a good old fashioned picnic. Play some tunes and bring a deck of cards for extra entertainment!

    HAPPY SUMMER!
