The Perfect Bachelorette Weekend Guide for Fredericksburg, Texas

A Bachelorette Weekend in Fredericksburg, Texas

Newly engaged chickas, rejoice! Fredericksburg is the perfect destination for your bachelorette trip: shopping, wine, beautiful hill country, spas, etc. What more could you need? It’s truly one of the cutest small town spots in the state of Texas.

As a native of Fredericksburg, I grew up exploring the Hill Country and have curated a list of my favorites places, spaces and eateries. After college, I moved back to Fredericksburg for work and spent my weekends exploring different wineries. The area is ever changing and evolving! So many different wineries and businesses have popped up in the past few years. Even after moving to the southeast, I still return to my hometown often for work event & family visits and find new treasures.

One of my most recently asked questions has been lately: “I’m headed to Fredericksburg for a bachelorette party – what should we do?!” GIRL. I GOTCHU. Beware of what Yelp and Trip Advisor tell you. You’ve come to the right place! I’m sharing all of my FAVORITES to help you craft the perfect bachelorette weekend.

STAY

There are a gazillion options around Fredericksburg (B&B’s grow on trees). Some hot spots we love:

Hoffman Haus (right off of Main Street and in a cute little community – great location)

The Hampton Inn (great location – stellar pool situation - only of the few places you can use points)

Gashthaus Schmidt (a B&B booking service in town that has an extensive list of B&Bs)

Albert Hotel. COMING SOON! This gorgeous spot used to be an empty lot where you’d find a flea market of sorts. And now, one of the most valuable pieces of real estate on Main Street will be occupied by a gorgeous hotel. I’m excited to see the finished product.

AirB&B. There are TONS of options. Book early, as houses tend to go fast.

DO

 Enchanted Rock

-For the active bunch! E Rock (as we so fondly refer to it) is the largest singular concentration of granite in the state of Texas with STELLAR views at the top). I would recommend for a group who loves being active – budget a full morning for E Rock. And get there early! You might run into a line to get into the park if you get a late start.

Shop Main Street

-For the Shopaholics! Or the window shoppers (like myself). You can spend the better portion of your day walking around Main and checking out all of the shops. You’ll find more boutique-esque stores on East Main and more art galleries and furniture stores on West Main. Some of my favorites include Zertz, the Fredericksburg T-Shirt store (sometimes they offer free beer), Parts Unknown, Vaudeville and Der Kukenladen.

Wineries

-For the vino lovers! (And who doesn’t love sitting with a glass of wine and admiring some gorgeous landscape?!) There are a number of different tour options for bachelorette parties wanting to experience the Texas Wine Trail. I’ve had friends use 290 Wine Shuttles, Reserve Tours, Brooke’s Bubble Bus, 19th Hole, etc. If you’re really looking to hit specific wineries, I’d be sure to look into your shuttle stops and which wineries the tours will work with. My personal preference would be to have a more personalized experience.

-L&L’s Vino Journals are a good place to gather more information on which wineries to hit! We definitely have our top choices! Check out our FAVORITES.

-Poppin’ some bubbly? Check out Heath Sparkling Wines. Love a good patio? Signor Vineyards. Interested in a micro-vintner experience? Santa Maria Cellars. One of the most tenured Texas wineries on 290? William + Chris. A wine experience right on Main Street? Ponotoc. Somewhere v Insta worthy that feels like California wine country? Augusta Vin.

The Nimitz Museum

-For the history lovers! If you’re a history buff, you’ll enjoy The Nimitz Museum. The National Museum of Pacific War is a tribute to those who fought in WWII in the Pacific. Admiral Nimitz was actually born in Fredericksburg (his old house is right on Main)! Your ticket will last for two days – THERE IS A TON OF GREAT INFO AND EXHIBITS! And, the museum has a beautiful Japanese Peace Garden – it’s probably my favorite spot.

Altstadt Brewery

Located at the gateway to all of the 290 wineries, this new brewery will transport you to Bavaria! They have a gorgeous outdoor seating area, full restaurant, and a large beer selection. Perhaps a good lunch / dinner spot after exploring the wineries. Still and stay awhile. PROST!

EAT

DINNER RECS

Hill & Vine. Vibe: Elevated Texas modern with a great patio. My favorite aspect of their menu is the wine list (duh!) because they have a section completely dedicated to local Texas wines! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. They’re always crowded on the weekends and they don’t take reservations. Be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it.

Granite House Lounge. Vibe: Cozy Texas patio. This restaurant was actually built into a traditional Fredericksburg home! Their patio is filled with white adrionack chairs and twinkle lights for patio sittin’. Google describes their menu as “Informal recipes with New Orleans flair dished up in a bright location with outdoor seating.” Order their fried green beans!

Vaudeville. Vibe: Upscale, sleek, basement bistro. Go for a nicer lunch or an upscale dinner. They serve a great menu – you really can’t go wrong. Interestingly enough, they also make a MEAN cup of coffee.

Otto’s. Vibe: European bistro. I’ve never eaten here, but all of my friends and colleague rave about the menu. They’re located in a smaller space, so reservations are limited (more intimate dining experience). They also do brunch!! Fun fact: Their building actually used to be a book store where my mom and I used to shop!

Hondo’s on Main. Vibe: Laid back, TEXAS, order at the counter, live music, large patio, STRONG margaritas. Hondo’s is one of my favorites in town. They offer traditional American food (burgers, chicken fried sandwiches and salads). Don’t forget to order their curly fries! If you’re a margarita lover, Hondo’s is a MUST. (But beware – they’re strong).

Alamo Springs Café. Vibe: TEXAS, dive, live music. If you’re up for a drive out in the country and in search of one of Texas’ best burgers, hit Alamo Springs. It’s about a 20 minute drive from the center of town out in the middle of nowhere, but they have THE BEST burger around. Like featured in Texas Monthly best. Expect to leave smelling like your food. Def not a bad thing.

Altdorf Biergarten. Vibe: Remodeled German biergarten. If you’re looking for some classic German fare (because you’re in a very German town), this is your spot.

LUNCH RECS

*Note - If you’re going to be out and about at wineries all day, I would double check which of them serve food. GrapeCreek has a spot, but it’s members only. Signor has a little market where you can get fresh sandwiches and small bites. I’d recommend packing a cooler of sandwiches and charcuterie for your tour, if you can!

Woerner’s Warehouse. Vibe: Farmhouse. This cutie spot sits right off of Main Street and has a great selections of sandwhiches and salads. I love lunching here with my mom! A local fave.

Tubby’s. Vibe: Outdoor + indoor patio, come as you are, family and dog friendly, tacos. Tubby’s is great for any time of day! All of their food is super fresh. Most famous for tacos and the pulled pork fries, Tubby’s is also a great place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. You could almost do a Sunday Funday here.

Fredericksburg Brewing Company. Vibe: Biergarten. Fredericksburg has a strong German heritage, so it’s easy to find German food restaurants along Main Street. If you’re looking for some great craft beer and more traditional German food, this is your spot. You can even grab a beer TO GO and walk around Main Street with it! I typically eat here for dinner, but you could do lunch, too! I love their red ale and Scotch Egg.

Sozial Haus. Vibe: Chill, great patio, sit and hang out for a while. In my opinion, Sozial Haus has some of the best pizza in town. They’d be a great spot for lunch OR dinner, and they often have live music on the weekends. It’s one of those spots where you can sit, enjoy a beer, listen to music and munch on pizza while just enjoying your surroundings.

West End Pizza Co. Vibe: Sunday patio funday. While we’re on the pizza vibe … West End just moved from West Main Street to a more poppin’ area of town. They have a great deck with an outdoor bar, lawn games and picnic tables.

Clear River Bakery. Vibe: 50’s style bakery. My favorite chocolate chip cookie lives here. People mostly enjoy their confections (which are ALL delish), but they also serve lunch! Great casual lunch spot.

BRUNCH/BREKKIE RECS

Emma and Ollie. Vibe: Light-hearted, girl’s brunch, baked goods and mimosas. Emma and Ollie’s is set a little bit off Main and is SUPER cute. All of their baked goods are made from scratch and DELISH. I love their breakfast sandwich : DROOL WORTHY. Go for brunch or lunch. Double check if you’re wanting a boozy brunch, but I don’t think they serve alcohol.

The Herb Garden. Vibe: Garden party, mimosas, natural lighting everywhere. The Herb Farm is one of my favorite brunch spots. They are a spa, B&B, garden and restaurant! One stop shop! They have a great bar and wonderful brunch foods. Plus, you can walk around their gardens after brunching super hard!

The Sunset Grille. Vibe: Come as you are, diner, brunch. The Sunset Grille has a FANTASTIC brunch menu – great portion size – more relaxed. The décor is simple, but the food is GOOD.

Old German Bakery. Vibe: Classic small-town diner. This family-run business has been around for YEARS. They have a fantastic assortment of baked good (you can order to go if you don’t have time to sit) in addition to seated dining. Their potato pancakes are amazing.

DRINK

78624. Upscale cocktails right on Main Street! They have a vintage vibe going on with a large wooden bar and velvet covered chairs.

Lincoln Street. My favorite wine bar with a killer patio and live music.

Chase’s Place Cocktails. Elevated cocktails + small bites.

Crossroads. If you’re looking for nightlife in Fredericksburg, this is it! They usually have a live band on the weekends. Go for drinks + dancing!

TADA! This is my comprehensive list. If you think you (and your party members) would enjoy a more personalized itinerary, feel free to reach out to me via L&L’s contact page or reach out to me on Instagram. I keep a full highlight + guide saved for all the Fred things!
