Fredericksburg Girls Weekend :: A Travel Guide

Main Street

When I was growing up as a youngster in Fredericksburg, there used to be a time when nobody knew the name of my little town.
Fredericksburg circa 2004: "Where's that?"
Fredericksburg circa NOW: "OMGILOVEFREDITSSUCHAFUNLITTLETOWN!"
Just a slight change. But I love that our little town has become such a tourist destination becauseeeeee I get to play hostess/tour guide! After entertaining groups of friends a number of times, I've come up with a classic Fredericksburg weekend itinerary!

Patio Art

Friday Afternoon
Be-bop around the stores on Main Street. If you like to window shop or just shop until you drop, this is your stop. The blocks between Adams and Lincoln Street are probably the busiest.
Friday Night
If you're feeling classic American fare, live music, patios and margaritas...Hondos
In the mood for less crowd and yummy pizza? Sozial Haus.
Traditional German Fare? Auslander or The Fredericksburg Brewing Company (homemade, award winning brews - say WHAAAAA?!)

ERock

Saturday Morning
Enchanted Rock! About a 15-20 minute drive from Main Street, Enchanted Rock is the largest concentration of granite rock in the state of Texas. Arrive at least 10 minutes before opening time, if you want to get in (especially during spring/summer seasons). It gets crowded (people and their outdoorsy-ness) and parking space is limited.
Saturday Afternoon
Early lunch at Emma + Ollie. It’s a cute little house just off of Main Street with fabulous baked goods and a delicious brunch / lunch menu. Ladies luncheon vibe.
Shop Main Street (if you didn't get enough on Friday).
Hit up 290 for some wine tastings! Visit my Vino Journals for all of my recommendatios. There are a couple of wine shuttle services available like Reserve Tours or 290 Wine Shuttle, if you don't want to wine and drive.
Saturday Dinner
Dinner at Hondo's : If you didn't hit it Friday (get there before 7 PM to avoid lines).
Pasta Bella : Italian food  (you'll leave smelling like garlic - smaller venue).
Rathskeller : A wide variety of different foods (I love their Greek Salad and pastas).
Saturday Night
Lincoln Street Wine Bar: Chill live music and patio vibes (perfect for listening to music, drinking wine and having good conversation).
Crossroads Saloon and Steakhouse: Live bands and a HUGE DANCE FLOOR (for more of a high energy outing).

Sunday Morning
Brunch at the Fredericksburg Herb Farm. A little community just off of Main Street with B&Bs, a spa, garden, and restaurant. Their brunch menu is delicious and their mimosas have a fresh spin to their flavor. Oh, they often serve giant cinnamon rolls.

Emma and Ollie is also SUPER CUTE and would be a great place to end the weekend.

If you’re up for it, you could do a Sunday Funday and leave Fredericksburg on Monday morning! More wine time for YOU! All of the makings for a FRED-FAB girls' weekend!
