What's in My Beach Bag :: Beach Essentials

IMG_4148.jpeg

I feel incredibly blessed to live so close to some of America’s finest beaches. It's definitely a perk I wasn’t aware of when I decided to move to Auburn (WOOHOO!). Destin, 30A, Orange Beach, Hilton Head Island … all of the sparkling, sandy beaches just constantly beckon to my beach-loving soul. We have a number of quick beach trips under our belt now, so I’ve started perfecting the art of the beach bag. You need the essentials, of course, but also to keep yourself entertained throughout a day’s worth of beach bummin. These are some of our favorite beach items + what I pack in my beach bag.

BEACH ESSENTIALS

We just invested in some beach chairs + a beach umbrella. We love the sunshine, but the sunshine doesn’t always love us (hence the shade of the umbrella comes in handy). These Tommy Bahama beach chairs some with built in cooler packs, cup holders and backpack straps for easy transport! And the backpack straps are true game-changers. You don’t want to be awkwardly lugging your chair through the sand while trying not to lose your grip on a cooler. Get the straps.

A sand-resistant (and cute) beach tote that can hold ALL of the things. I grabbed my straw bag from Lou & Grey and it has been the BEST beach purchase I’ve made. Mark and Graham makes a painted monogram beach tote that I’ve been swooning over for a couple of years. For a more budget friendly option, check out this darling straw bag on Etsy.

Yeti cups. Most of our beaches don’t allow glass or cans of adult beverages on the beach, so we have to pack tumblers. Yeti tumblers keep our beverages cool while keeping us in check with the beach friendly laws.

A speaker to pump the JAMZ! This waterproof speaker will keep you from stressing about dripping salty sea water on it when trying to turn up the music. For an alternative option, this speaker is only $25 and fits perfectly into a beach tote. And don’t forget a portable phone charger to keep the tunes going all day long!

Floppy beach hats not only shade your face (and part of your shoulders) from those powerful UV rays, but they also look FAB. For a darling option under $15, click here. If you’re more of a visor girl, this feminine piece is just under $16! And I just added it to my personal collection (it rolls up for easy transport!).

A small clutch or mini bag to hold all of your wallet, phone and other small random items (eye drops, smaller tubes of sunscreen, etc.). I have a summer-inspired printed clutch to keep all of my random items from rolling around my beach bag + keep my phone out of the sun.

Lip balm with SUNSCREEN! I often forget to pack this item and my lips hate me because of it. You don’t think about protecting your lips from the sun until they’re painfully chapped. Supergoop makes a lip shield with SPF 30 and ULTA also has a great option to protect your kisser, as well.

And, of course, a good beach book. Check out my spring reading list for L&L’s current favorites.

And these are the essentials that I pack with me every beach trip! Am I missing anything crucial?! (Obviously, sunscreen is a given). Happy summer!!
