(Creative) Quarantine Date Night Ideas

Relationships are on a WHOLE OTHA LEVEL with quarantine in full effect. George and I joke that this might be all of the pre-marriage counseling we need. Make it 8 weeks while stuck in the same room with your significant other? BLESS US ALL.

Honestly, George and I have had a blast together. We usually spend much of the spring season apart, between George working with the Auburn baseball team and my travel for work. We’ve been introduced to a new level of “togetherness”. It’s almost like being a child again … we have so much free time and our imaginations running at high speed.

SO. We’re all having to get a little bit creative in quarantine. Here are our quarantine date night favorites:

1.    Virtual Trivia Night. George and I recently discovered our curiosity with trivia. Although we’re not the best at pulling random knowledge and facts from our brain, we LOVE playing along! Our friends invited us to a virtual trivia game and we all had a blast playing together. {Apparently, when born, pandas can weigh less than 6 ounces.} We got dead last place but had SO MUCH FUN!

2.       Picnic in the park (or your backyard). Plan your menu! We decided to do a charcuterie board with all of our favorite trimmings, pack everything into a picnic basket and lug bocce ball with us. We also love playing corn hole in the backyard. Makes for a lovely evening spent outside!

3.       Themed dinner. Choose your favorite type of food (maybe try a new recipe) and create a dinner around the theme! George and I found a new fish taco recipe (OBSESSED), got dressed up, mixed margaritas and turned on some Spanish dinner party music (yes, Alexa has a specific playlist for this). We had a BALL. It was almost like being on the beach in Mexico. Almost.

4.       Learn something together. George and I have fallen into the TikTok world, and we love seeing how creative people can get with their time. We’ve done a number of fitness + dance challenges together thanks to the app! There’s nothing better than a high five after you finally nailed the foot routine. #ohnana

5.       Flaneuring. Wander without intention. Go for a stroll. Every time you come to a decision point (straight, right, left, etc) play Rock Paper Scissors. Let the game determine your next move. See where you end up!

6.       Virtual Double Date. Video chat with some friends as a double date night and catch up! It’s a fun way to spend time together and keep up with your relationships. We love playing Table Topics! OR. You can sign up for a virtual cocktail making class together. Cheers!

7.       Breakfast with your babe. Support your favorite local business and run out to grab your favorite breakfast item. Brew your favorite coffee (or try to make whipped coffee - whatever floats your boat) and enjoy a slow morning together!

8.        Plan a staycation! George and I recently decided to book a room at a delightful (historic) B&B in downtown Opelika in an effort to pamper ourselves (and pretend like we were on vacation). It was a fabulous time! The best part? We were only 10 minutes from our house, so the travel time was ideal. And we felt like we had truly “gotten away”!

Happy quaranTOGETHER!
