The Stable :: Hill Country Cocktails

Texas Derby

A newcomer to the Fredericksburg cocktail lounge scene, The Stable brings a cozier ambiance to the table. Located on the corner of Ufer Street, The Stable is nestled amongst local greenery and Baron's Creek. Word gets around quickly in a small town like Fredericksburg, so I was quick to check it out and show some local love.

The Stable echoes of Fredericksburg's close-knit community by creating a more intimate setting for their clientele. The bar is smaller, so those who work at The Stable are quick to welcome you and offer a menu of their original cocktails.

The ambiance is subtle in it's masculine decor - almost has an old world industrial feel to it - but still very polished. Like a Texas gentleman. Dark wooden beams and brick from D'Hanis, Texas line the walls and make up the inner fixtures. The place is peppered with pictures of polo matches and even has polo clubs displayed by the front door.

They have an extra room overlooking Baron's Creek, which is where I settled for the evening to enjoy my Texas Derby. This citrusy cocktail was made with TX Bourbon (distilled in Fort Worth, TX), and was refreshingly delicious! My fellow cocktail lovers gave positive reviews about their Mules (Citrus and Berry). No drop was to go to waste!

Local tip: venture off of Main Street for a cozy cocktail at The Stable. You will be sure to enjoy!
