Exploring OKC :: Adding It to Your Wander-List

Oklahoma City. If you're not from Oklahoma, Oklahoma City is probably not on the top of your list of cities to visit. However. It probably should be.

Here's why:

1. Brunch Game. If you love to brunch/lunch, this city is calling your name. There seems to be a lot of renovation going into the midtown area, where lots of local businesses and restaurants are popping up. We brunched at Hatch, and they serve Eggs Benedict three different ways, and their menu is extensive. SO MANY CHOICES.

2. Local. Driving around the main centers of town, I hardly saw chain anything. OKC has worked really hard to make sure local business thrive, so, as a visitor, you're going to have a lot of unique experiences.

3. Braum's. To contradict my previous point, there are Braum's Ice Cream stores on every corner. This is one chain that made it BIG in OKC. Mostly because OKC is where their HQ is located (it's an ICE CREAM CAPITAL). So, if you're an ice-cream lover (like myself), you'll enjoy.

4. Oklahoma City National Memorial. You can't leave OKC without visiting this Memorial. It's effect on me was similar to visiting the 9/11 Memorial in NYC. The newly renovated Memorial walks you through the tragic events of April 19, 1995 to remember and honor those effected by the bombing. Absolutely sobering and wonderful experience. I would be sure to allot 2 hours for this visit.

I know. OKC surprised me, too. And, I might be biased, but the people who live in OKC are also some of the friendliest and most hospitable. Now - raise your hand if OKC made it onto your wander-list!!!!
