Augusta Vin Winery :: A Slice of Hill Country Heaven
The name “Augusta” conjures up mental images of rolling green hills, perfectly manicured lawns and gorgeously sunny days synonymous with The Masters. Add wine, and you’ve got one of the most gorgeous new wineries in the Texas Hill Country.
August Vin opened in early fall of 2019, so they’re considered one of the newest on the Texas Wine Trail; however, they’ve quickly become one of the more popular spots in Fredericksburg. Located on Highway 16 (running from Fredericksburg towards Kerrville), August Vin is one of the few wineries on this stretch of road. Wine lovers and tourist alike turn into their stone gates and drive through rows and rows of vines … suddenly … you happen upon their smartly sophisticated architectural wonder of a tasting room.
And, wow, is this a place to stop and stay for a while. They have great outside seating (basking in the sun whilst drinking wine, yes please) as well as a number of spots inside (complete with a mesquite wood bar and two fireplaces). I’d definitely recommend a tasting for your first visit, although I would also highly recommend a bottle of their Malbec. You can even schedule private tastings + tours and enjoy the experience in their barrel room!
Augusta Vin has 60 acres worth of property, over 60,000 vines plants and hopes to become one of the first vineyards where their wines are exclusively grown + produced in the Texas Hill Country. A feat, indeed!
