Your Summer Reading List Inspiration
Every summer growing up I would dust off my library card, jump in the car with my momma and head towards the Fredericksburg (historic!) Library. I’d spend hours and hours reading through backs of books in order to choose my next read. My mother and I both shared a love of literature (hence why my mom is an English teacher) so summers were special to us - we both kept our noses buried in books. Fast forward 10ish years.
Recently, Opelika opened their BRAND NEW public library location. Curious enough to check out a new spot in town, I signed up for a library card. And I have been LOVING IT. For the past six months, I’ve been checking out books like CRAZY and really re-connecting with my love of reading fiction.
A while back on Instagram stories, I had asked for new book recommendations. There was an OVERWHELMING response - I was just so happy to know I was surrounded by fellow book lovers! So, I’ve put together a list of books that were recommended.
summer reading list recommendations
What Alice Forgot - Liane Moriarty
Survive the Night - Riley Sager
Lock Every Door - Riley Sager
Local Woman Missing - Mary Kubica
Lying Game - Ruth Ware
Something in the Water - Catherine Steadman
One by One - Ruth Ware
The Last Mrs. Parish - Liv Constantine
The Husband’s Secret - Liane Moriarty
The Club - Ellery Lloyd
One Italian Summer - Rebecca Serle
The Unhoneymooners - Christina Lauren
The Paris Apartment - Lucy Foley
Eternal - Lisa Scottline
Every Last Secret - A.R. Torre
Black Cake - Charmaine Wilkerson
True Biz - Sara Nović
A large chunk of that list would fall into the thriller category. And I do love anything by Liane Moriarty. I loveeeee that you guys LOVE to read!! I recently finished reading …
When Life Gives You Lululemons - Lauren Weisburger. A saga to The Devil Wears Prada, I sped through this kitchy read and loved every second. Easy poolside or beach read.
The Orchard - David Hopen. A haunting yet relatable drama about growing up, trying to fit in and questioning your spirituality. The bonds of friendship and strong faith base are big themes.
Lilac Girls - Martha Hall Kelly. Historical fiction revolving around three young women, how WWII altered the courses of their lives and how they ended up intersecting. Loosly based on true events!
Dark Matter - Blake Crouch. A great sci-fi and fiction read that was a page turner from the start! Concepts include the idea that multiple realities can exist at the same time … and each choice you make can alter the course of your path. If you like movies similar to Interstellar and Inception, you’ll like this book.
If you have a book recommendation you’d like to include, shoot me a message on Instagram. Happy reading!
