Savannah :: A Complete Foodie Guide
Savannah is a southern foodie’s paradise. Quaint trendy coffee shops and bistros, southern inspired elevated cuisine, and craft drinks. Considering I ate and drank my way through the city, I thought I’d share my favorites!
Coffee/Breakfast/Brunch
The Collins Quarter.
Located off the one of the main squares, this cute cafe was one of my first stops! But. I loved it so much that I visited multiple times. Their lavender lattes are FANTASTIC (and not overly floral), and you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Coffee bar by day and actual bar by night, you can get the best of both worlds at Collins. I would DEFINITELY recommend for a brunch and coffee stop before starting your day!
Mirabella Cafe
The sweetest little coffee shop located JUST across the street from the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist (a must-see in Savannah). They specialize in gourmet waffle dishes and COFFEE. Their cappuccino brought me back to LIFE (I was in need of a 2 PM pick me up). Rainy afternoons, great views, strong coffee, what more could you want?
The Paris Market
My favorite store on Broughton Street! There is a small cafe just inside the front doors (behind all of their quaint merchandise) with STELLAR pastries. I’m hesitant when it comes to croissants (I’ve only had a few in my lifetime that I would say I’ve enjoyed), but The Paris Market didn’t let me down. Definitely worth the sugar rush while shopping.
The Coffee Fox
We briefly stepped into the Coffee Fox for an afternoon pick-me-up. At first, I thought it would be a bit of a tourist trap (it’s located in a popular spot), but the coffee was QUALITY. Their Mexican mochas have a KICK, so watch out.
Lunch/Dinner/Snacks
The Emporium
Y’all. The Emporium was one of my favorite dinner spots in the city. Located in the Perry Lane Hotel, this a restaurant where you will need a reservation. We had fabulous service here! I would 10/10 recommend a charcuterie board (they specialize in meats and cheeses) and their pork chop entree was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Also - don’t forget dessert.
Soho South
A favorite lunch spot - we had to walk a number of city blocks after our meal here to feel comfortable again. Soho South is a lunch spot located in an old warehouse where they’ve kept the old loading doors in tact as part of the restaurant’s charm. The menu offers a great price point and our waiter had tons of great recommendations (on food but also on what to see/do in Savannah). We tried their black eyed pea hummus and the classic grilled cheese sandwich with fried green tomatoes paired with a tomato bisque soup. DE. LISH.
Treylor Park.
Treylor Park takes traditional bar/comfort food to an Olympic level. You can’t leave Savannah without trying this fun, casual eatery/bar! Order their PB&J wings. You MUST. (For the record - I’m not really a wing person - but I loved these). Treylor Park Nachos Grande? I would indulge often if I lived in Savannah. Plus, they have a cute patio/bar area out back, if you just want to catch a football game and have a beer.
The Olde Pink House
Classic Savannah staple. This restaurant is located in an 18th century mansion close to all the hustle and bustle. “Gentlemen and ma’am” are the proper greetings here and the wait staff are dressed to the nines. MAKE A RESERVATION AT LEAST A WEEK IN ADVANCE. I called the week of our trip, and we could only get a 10:15 PM reservation. Which we took. And after eating we promptly fell asleep. A touristy stop, yes, but the food was delicious. The Olde Pink House offers a finer dining atmosphere, and it’s almost as if you’ve stepped back in time.
BONUS: Elizabeth’s on 37th was also recommended as a classic Savannah fine dining experience. It’s on my list for next time!
Green Fire Pizza
Y’all. I think this is where the locals hang out. Green Fire is located (in what looks like it used to be a gas station) right next to the Emporium. If you’re looking for a mouth-watering slice of pizza at a reasonable price, THIS IS THE PLACE. They have live music on the weekends, so the entertainment factor is great! Every time I walked by - I could SMELL the cheesy goodness.
The Public
The Public is a smaller restaurant with a mid-range price point for their menu. It’s a popular spot, but far enough away from the touristy areas that I didn’t feel crowded. We split a burger here, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. Their bar is one of the best I came across, as well. Craft cocktails, YES!
DRINKS
Artillery Bar
I love this place. Artillery is at the top of my list for Savannah craft cocktails. Ask the bartenders for their recommendations - they know what they’re talking about. The bar was named because it’s located in what used to be an artillery hold during the Civil War. Southern history and great drinks!? Yes, please. Dress to impress here.
The Peregrin
The Peregrin is located on the roof of the Perry Lane Hotel, and I frequented this rooftop bar. Frequented. They have a GREAT view of the city, a solid drink menu, outdoor games like skee-ball and corn hole, and the breeze on the rooftop is NICE in the summertime. Best place for watching a Savannah sunset.
Moon River Brewing Co
Fun outdoor patio seating (optional inside seating) close to River Street! It was fun to watch everyone walk by and enjoy a brew on the patio before dinner. Casual sips!
Top Deck/Rocks on the Roof
These are two rooftop bars located in hotel on River Street. Very touristy, but worth one drink for the views of the river. Sometimes the barges honk when they go by! If you’re crunched for time, I’d recommend the Peregrin instead.
The Grove
Another rooftop bar spot if you’re looking for views closer to Broughton Street!
SWEETS AND TREATS
Chocolat by Adam Turoni
Craft chocolate shop right off of Chippewa Square (where the infamous Forrest Gump scene was filmed). Walking into this place is what I imagine heaven will smell like - fresh, gourmet chocolate.
Leopolds Ice-Cream
Touristy? YES. Worth it? YES YES YES. This old soda shop has been open since the early 1900s and is iconic in Savannah. I was deterred by crowds a couple of times, but we were able to hit it late on a Sunday afternoon with minimal line! You can’t go wrong with any of their flavors - it’s the perfect sweet treat to cool off in the Savannah heat.
Goodness gracious, we ate A LOT. This food/drink guide is PACKED!
