Fredericksburg "Bucket List" for Guys
Saturdays are for the boys, right? Well. What about Saturdays in Fredericksburg? Guys - no fear. We've got your Fredericksburg Bucket List right here!
(Sorry about the cheesy rhyme...it was too easy).
But seriously. Sometimes it might be a strug for you guys out there to find fun activities to partake in that don't involve shopping (ok, maybe a little bit of shopping). L&L has researched and compiled a list of bona fide activities that the male population would be sure to enjoy.
For the beer lover: Take a stroll on over to the Fredericksburg Brewing Company. The Brewery (as we locals refer to it) is a German-food restaurant that makes all of their own beer. You can sit down at the bar and admire their giant copper brewing vats while drinking a cold one and enjoying a bowl a fried pickles (best fried pickles in town)! You can also relax in their back room, which is the closest thing we have to a sports bar in Fred. I would suggest trying a brew flight to try all of those award winning flavors! AND, don’t forget to check out Altstad Brewery. Head out 290 and you’ll see a looming Bavarian architectural structure in the distance. It’s a brewery - take a tour, taste a flight, drink a pint, and grab something to eat!
For the sharp dressed man: Peek inside of Hill Country Outfitters. This shop has a great clothing and outdoor selection for men. They carry brands like Patagonia, Tommy Bahama, White Wing, Chaco and more! The staff is friendly and their selection is large.
For the taste tester: Rustlin' Rob's is calling your name! This is the first level of snacking heaven. Located a couple of storefronts down from Hill Country Outfitters, this store never seems to end. And you never want it to end, because it's full of yummy dips, sauces, mustards, butters, cooking oils, etc ALL available for you to taste! Come hungry and leave with a slight waddle.
For the adventurer: Enchanted Rock. Located about 25 minutes from Main Street, it's a bit of a drive but if you like a good hike with a view - this has YOU all over it! The closest natural park area located to Fredericksburg, is home to the largest reserve of granite in the state! And you get to climb it! I usually huff and puff to the top of the Rock, so be sure to bring a water bottle and some determination. Once you reach the top of the Rock, you can see for MILES (all of that gorgeous hill country)! BONUS: If you walk over the top of the Rock, you'll find some caves just on the other side. Enter at your own risk and def bring a flashlight.
For the sporty guy: Golf. Golf is gold in the hill country. Lady Bird Park has an 18-hole golf course with some great views. If you're in a time crunch, you can rent a bucket of balls to hit on their driving range. I don't play golf often, but I love the peacefulness of the driving range. The slight breeze and the satisfying "THWACK" as you finally get a solid swing in after shanking 5 balls in a row.
For the bourbon drinker: Maybe you like wine...maybe you don't...maybe you just love a good spirit. Garrison Brothers is a Texas Bourbon Distillery located in Hye (a short 20 minute drive outside of Fredericksburg and right along the wine trail). You can take a tour of their facility, learn how Texas bourbon is made, and even dip your own bottle! The bourbon makers love sharing their processes and love to share a good laugh. After taking a tour, you can circle around a campfire, drink more bourbon and play yard games!
For the country music lover: Maybe you like wearing boots. Maybe you like some good ole country folk music. Maybe you just like that rustic Texas vibe. Well, Luckenbach is just a short car ride away! Don't blink - you might miss this tiny Texas town. But "everybody is somebody in Luckenbach" and they welcome all visitors. You'll "Park Yonder" (in a field) and follow the sound of music to this historic music venue. Crack open a cold one and enjoy the Texas air. Ahhhhh.
Saturday in Fredericksburg, anyone?
