Ponotoc Vineyard :: Hill Country Vino

If you're on a quest to taste some true Texas wines, look no further. Ponotoc Winery is nestled just off of West Main Street with a semi-private courtyard. All of the grapes grown by the family-owned vineyard hail from Mason, Texas (just 40 minutes from Fredericksburg).  What I really love about this winery is that it truly feels family owned and operated. The owner himself guided us through a tasting (the most cost effective tasting in town)! The tasting room itself is small and intimate and visitors sit at the wooden bar which was hand-crafted by the owner and his father.  Plus, the building where Ponotoc chose to house their tasting room is a historical Fredericksburg monument, as it is one of the oldest buildings in town.

Red wine lovers - make sure you add Ponotoc to your list. They specialize in reds (so of course I enjoyed their selections). Ponotoc is also known for their sangria. Served in mason jars with a smile, the aroma and refreshing taste will transport you to Spain (...or at least it did me)!

Cheers!
